Polls: Hispanics to Power a Trump Victory?
Latest numbers validate prospects for a “brown” red wave…
As typical for the corrupt corporate media, Reuters published a story of its own polling numbers and tried desperately to turn it into an anti-Trump missive. The article is titled “Hispanic Voters Give Harris an Edge on Healthcare, Climate.”
Now, that headline is strictly accurate, but highly misleading.
The rest of the article continues along the same lines, providing little-to-no context to reveal that the Reuters/Ipsos survey contains overwhelmingly good news for the 45th president! In reality, this poll provides yet more evidence that the move to the political Right among Hispanic citizens of America broadens and accelerates.
The most important takeaway is that Reuters shows Harris with only a +13% lead among Hispanics, placing Latino support for Trump nationally at 43%. Let’s cut to the chase – a Hispanic voter share for Trump north of 40% is simple electoral death for the Democrats.
Why?
Well, analyze it in context. Per the Pew Validated Voter Survey, the best metric for such post-election voter analysis, Trump earned 28% of the Hispanic vote nationally in 2016. Then by 2020, his support among Latinos leaped to 38%. Now, with his share climbing into the 40s, it puts the Harris team into an electoral college corner. Specifically, Hispanics are a determinative force in key swing states of Arizona and Nevada, and a growing driver in Georgia too, which now has over a million Hispanic citizens.
This success among Hispanics largely explains why Reuters polling also shows Trump with a +2% lead in the seven key battleground states, a reality that does not exactly jump off the Reuters page, given platform’s own headline. Instead, Reuters focused on the two issues that do, in fact, favor Harris in their survey. But much more importantly, on the far more pressing issues on voters’ minds, Trump climbed ahead on policy assessment.
In particular, the Reuters survey shows that on the key issue of immigration, Trump has the edge. By a 42-37% margin, Hispanic citizens prefer Trump to manage immigration policy. So much for the media narrative that we Latinos somehow favor lax border security!
Along with the economy, immigration rates as the top issue on voters’ minds, in every credible survey. On the economic front, Hispanics have suffered disproportionately from the harmful fallout of Kamala Harris’s economy, particularly inflation.
As a population of modest earners, Latinos feel the sting of inflation more intensely, as soaring costs of staples like food, gas and utilities eat up a far larger share of the monthly incomes of middle- and lower-income workers. In that stressed economic environment, no wonder Trump earns more support, as revealed by the Reuters survey.
In addition, looking at the specifics of the Reuters poll, it is critical to realize that national polls of Hispanics mathematically include large samples from deeply blue states, especially California, New York, and Illinois, all of which have large Hispanic populations. But, those blue state Latinos, not surprisingly, tend to vote more Democratic than Latinos in the key swing states. As such, even Trump’s impressive showing in this national Hispanic poll almost surely understates his strength among Hispanics where it really matters, when it comes to choosing a president.
To that point, in the most recent survey I helped direct, American Greatness surveyed likely voters in battleground Michigan. That TIPP-conducted poll shows Trump earning over 50% of the Hispanic vote and winning Latinos in the Great Lakes State. Granted, Michigan does not have a substantial Hispanic constituency, but that data point is still very positive for Team Trump.
So, “Bad Hombres” and proud Latinas continue to reject the increasingly radical Democrat Party of Kamala Harris, and rally to the America First agenda of patriotic populism. This trend bodes very well for Donald John Trump into November.
