Walz is only 60 yet could easily pass for 75. He looks old, dumpy and not very bright and that was confirmed in the debate with Vance when he called himself a “knucklehead” yet most democrats immediately claimed Walz won the debate. We really do exist in an entirely different reality with these people which means we have no common truth or even a common understanding of common sense. Hope springs eternal as does wishful thinking. It’s hard to see how we can ever again have a functional country with “fellow Americans” like this. My hope is that AI will soon be advanced enough to save our sinking ship and there is good reason for this hope. Even Elon says he’s never seen a technology move as fast as AI.
You're probably right about the 'eternal divide.' But it'll be okay if the breakdown roughly favors MAGA 60%/40% ...... which I think is about where things stand..... [even if it's 55%/45% things will work out just fine].
You're mostly on the money about the chances of any 2024 candidate's ability to persuade voters 'on the other side', though. Maybe the answer lies in what a great trial attorney told me a long time ago, "you can't win the jury over by building taller & taller mountains of evidence...you have to somehow get them to step back & see the case through your eyes."

How is that possible though when we no longer even have a common reality? Where is the common ground in such an infinitely wide divide? I recently saw a video which said the Woke have “pathological compassion.” They put Goodness above Truth (objective reality) and their Goodness is synonymous with Equal Outcomes and this feeling goes all the way down to the core of their being which makes it a religious value rather than just an ideological preference.
This is why they will not accept judging people as individuals. They know judging people as individuals leads to unequal group outcomes which is totally unacceptable to them. Equity though is basically a recipe for tribalism and tribal warfare. An impossible situation. My hope is that Fate will intervene in our behalf to speed up AI, to speed up this “emergence phenomenon” driving AI where complexity emerges from simplicity. The universe is a dream in the mind of God who also infinitely transcends his creation so in fact the spiritual could intervene in the material realm to help us. He says it can think, reason and has increased self-awareness. At about the 39:30 min point in the video he says “This is not just a tool. Artificial Intelligence is so much more. This is literally bringing a new form of intelligence, smarter than humans, to life.” I do hope Trump wins the election but even if we do our society is far too fragmented to function as a country. Only AI is powerful enough to alter our present path which is very rapidly taking us to the abyss. This is the only bright spot I see in our future but it is a very bright spot and rapidly getting brighter. The best of times. The worst of times.
